인공지능(AI)은 피할 수 없는 미래이자 부정할 수 없는 흐름이다. 상상 그 이상으로 빠르게 발전하며 거의 모든 업종, 사회 전 영역으로 확산하는 중이다. 법조계 역시 예외가 아니며, 오히려 더 밀접한 관계에 놓여 있다. 법조직역은 그동안 고도의 전문성을 인정받아 왔다. 하지만 방대한 데이터에 기반한 체계화된 업무 시스템이 AI의 특성과 맞아떨어지며 AI의 영향을 더 많이 받는 직역이 됐다. 판례 조사와 분석 등 사람이 3일 동안 해야 할 일을 AI는 단 3분 만에 끝낼 수 있다. 미래 법조인을 양성하는 교육이 달라져야 하는 이유다. 나아가 AI라는 첨단기술의 발전은 새로운 법과 제도 마련이라는 과제로 귀결된다. Artificial intelligence (AI) is an inevitable future and an undeniable trend. It is advancing faster than imagined and spreading across nearly every industry and every corner of society. The legal profession is no exception—indeed, it is bound up with AI even more closely. The legal field has long been recognized for its high level of expertise. Yet because its systematic, data-intensive workflows align so well with AI's strengths, it has become one of the professions most affected by AI. Tasks that would take a person three days—such as researching and analyzing case law—AI can finish in just three minutes. This is why the education that trains future legal professionals must change. Moreover, the advance of cutting-edge technologies like AI ultimately raises the task of creating new laws and institutions. The more AI spreads, the more important the role of the legal profession becomes. We shall explore the path that legal studies should chart in the age of AI.
